Kiera had another good day today. I was finally able to hold her again for the first time since Sunday. Kiera was awake and alert for most of the morning. After lunch, a contrast test was done to test whether there were holes in the esophagus repair site. The test showed that, although there were no holes, there was swelling at the repair site so the feeding tube will stay in until Monday. A second contrast test will be done.
The great news is that at 5:00 pm Kiera was able to finally have food in her tummy. The nurse fed her 5 cc's of breast milk through her feeding tube. The nurse said that her feeding went well and she will now get fed every 3 hours.
This picture shows Kiera awake and alert. The tape on her nose is holding her feeding tube in place so she doesn't pull it out.
