Today was a pretty quiet day.  We took our time going to the hospital this morning because we knew Kiera would be resting.  When we got to the hospital her nurse said "Hi, we have some ground rules today, no touching her or talking loudly."  Our nurse wanted to make sure Kiera had as peaceful a day as possible so she could use as little pain medication as possible.  It was nice to see her nurse so protective of Kiera.

We were also able to discuss Kiera's recovery with the neonatologist this afternoon.  The plan is to keep Kiera sedated for the next three to four days and then slowly start taking her off the pain medications.  Kiera's esophagus requires at least 7-10 days to heal before the doctors feel that food should be introduced into her digestive system.  Then it will be slow process of getting her system used to eating real food.  The doctors figured it will be at least two or three weeks before Kiera can come home.

Hopefully the next few days will remain uneventful with Kiera resting in the hospital.  So we may or may not post a new blog tomorrow.

It must be good to have a little bit of a time line now. Although 2-3 weeks will seem like a long time. Hope you are all getting your own rest. Thinking of you...

It must be agony to not be able to touch her. Sending love and lots of hugs to help you through this tough stretch. Cheryl W.

Hi B:
Missed you yesterday morning, but I spent some time with Jo and Noah and baby Esme. Saw Keira from a distance, and had my own private, silent prayer for her. I'm glad you got some family time with Piper and Keith. Do take care of yourself in the busyness of this time, know we love and care for you all deeply,
Lesley and AUC

Wow, you must be so anxious to hold and cuddle your little girl already! I can't imagine what you are feeling, but I'm pleased to hear that Kiera is resting and I pray that healing will be as quick and painless as possible. Praying for all of you, Brenda, Keith, Piper and Kiera!
