Kiera has a few issues with her right eye. It has a Coloboma which means a part of her eye did not form correctly so she will at least have a blind spot in that eye. That eye is also smaller than the left eye. They may need to put some stuff into that eye socket and sew her eye shut so that it can artificially make the eye larger so her face will develop symmetrically. They will only do this if they think she won’t see in that eye. Then, when she gets older she will likely need an eye prosthetic so she looks more normal. Her left eye will likely function normally.
Kiera had an EEG today to measure her brain waves and at 8 PM she is scheduled to have her MRI to check the structure of the brain. That is the final piece of the puzzle that the doctors say should tell them what syndrome she has.
The Pediatric Gynaecologist examined her and said she has a small issue with her genital development but it was not a serious matter and may need to be corrected when she hits puberty.
Kiera did not have any seizures today and was not on any medications for seizures.
We felt that today was a more positive day but we are anxiously waiting for the results of the MRI and EEG. Apparently we should have those on Thursday or early Friday.
