Kiera had a great day today. Her breathing tube was taken out, then her catheter was removed, and finally her arterial line was taken out. Kiera has a feeding tube through her nostril to her stomach and her nurse was able to give Kiera clear liquids at 5:30 pm. This is the first time she has had anything in her tiny tummy.
Tomorrow will be another eventful day. A special test will be run to make sure that there are no leaks in Kiera newly connected esophagus. She will also have a tube removed from her incision site that was delivering pain medication. When all this is done and there are no problems, I will finally get to hold Kiera -- something I have not been able to do for nearly a week.

Wow! What a great day! It sounds like Kiera's recovery is going great and that she is the strong little fighter we have all prayed she would be. Thank you for sharing this great news! Here's hoping that everything will go smoothly tomorrow and you will get to hold your little girl again.
