It's the beginning of Day 5 and I have just finished reading all about the success that one mother is having tube weaning on Day 10. It gives us something to shoot for. Kiera's dietitian would like us to give up the dropping of one feed a day if we don't see progress by Day 7 but I realize that Kiera may need more time and higher drop in calories to motivate her. We will have to see what the next 3 days bring.

Brenda! Thanks for getting in touch. Do you have anyone who can support you in doing a more substantial calorie drop? It took a 50% drop for Heath to really even get *started*. Dropping one meal a day will not hurt her nutritionally -- Heath is at about 20-25% tube nutrition tight now and we plan to keep him there until he is eating what he needs (he's had 10% weight loss and we won't allow him to have more). He is clearly happy, laughing, and making huge developmental strides in this state. Do you have a ped who is senior or experienced enough to help you? -- it is not really a nutritionist's job to oversee weaning. Have you seen the Palmer 60 hour wean protocol? You might discuss with your ped as a starting point. I feel for you and wish you lots and lots of luck!!!
