Kiera now weighs 5.8 kg (12 lbs 12.5 oz) and she has been gaining an average of 27 g per day which has help to boost her weight percentile from the 15-20 percentile to the 30th percentile. This is a great thing and it means that the feeding clinic team is comfortable with weaning Kiera from the tube. We will officially begin tomorrow and will be starting with the motivation of hunger. So far, enticing Kiera with different flavors and textures is not enough so we have to jump start her oral intake with hunger.
It will be rough. Kiera will cry. The mothers and fathers that I've been in contact with on the online support group that I joined (http://tubefedkids.ning.com/) have reported that it is worth it. So, tomorrow we take the leap of faith that Kiera will make progress.

Through this tough time remember that you love her enough to work through the frustrations and her tears. She will get this! You have gotten her this far and you can all do it!!!
