Kiera has completely recovered from her Fundoplication and the surgical team is very happy with the results. She no longer vomits, can't burp, and still wretches sometimes, although not as often as before.
Over the past few days they have proven that her discomfort from feeding is a combination of dumping syndrome and a sensitivity to proteins. They tried a protein free formula today and she had no sweating or passing out during the feed. However, she can't live without protein so they are trying a drug called octreotide which is supposed to allow her body to digest the protein without causing her insulin levels to go so high.
Like any drug this one has it's share of side effects so she will need to stay in hospital for another week so they can monitor the side effects closely. They are starting the drug today so it looks like she will be in until mid next week at the earliest. Sigh. However, hopefully we can finally get this issue resolved.
