Kiera did not come home for the weekend because we wanted them to continue testing things over the weekend.
Here's a rundown of the weekend.
Friday - Kiera finally had her dilatation done at 9:00 PM on Friday night. The surgeon had assurance from surgery dept that she would be first up Friday afternoon after the regular scheduled surgeries were over. However on Friday the surgery staff decided that they would order the surgeries but the book so Kiera had to wait until 9:00 PM. The dilation went well and the surgeon said it was not as tight as it had been before so hopefully that means she won't need many more dilatation's.
Saturday we waited until lunch to find out what the doctors wanted to add to her formula to help her dumping syndrome. They decided to start by adding 2 tablespoons of rice cereal to each feeding. This did not work well. She was still vomiting after feedings and her blood sugar levels were still bouncing up and down. We kept with the Rice cereal/formula mix all day Saturday and the first feeding of the day on Sunday.
Sunday after the first feeding didn't go well again we decided to push for another solution. The 2nd option from the doctors is to add 20 ml of corn starch to each feeding. The first feeding with this concoction was at Noon on Sunday. After this feeding she did not vomit and her blood sugars were more stable so we had some hope that this was the answer. The 2nd and 3rd feedings still had some vomiting and unstable blood sugars so we're not sure what to think.
The Doctors have 1 more idea if the corn starch doesn't work. I think we'll want to continue the corn starch mixture for a few days because according to our research that is the answer to the dumping syndrome.
Looks like Kiera will be in for a few more days. We REALLY want her to be home by Wednesday because Thursday is Piper's birthday.
