Today they continued to experiment with adding to her feeds. Last night Kiera pooped out all the corn starch we fed her yesterday so that means her body is not yet ready to digest it. This morning they began trying with a modified corn starch called polycrose. The first feed they gave too much and she vomited most of it up. They reduced it for the next few feeds and then have started to increase the level of polycrose a little each feed. She is tolerating it well but her blood sugar levels are still dropping too low for comfort.
The specialist and charge nurse on shift today have written up a plan for Tuesday and Wednesday and then the plan is for Kiera to come home for a while and continue with whatever has worked best.
If it still isn't figured out we will likely go back for further testing.
