Another Dilatation

Here we go again.  After nine days, Kiera`s esophagus tightened up again.  As it looks like this will be an ongoing problem, she will be getting a G-tube.  Surgery has been scheduled for next week Thursday and she will stay in hospital for a few days while the G-tube opening heals.  A G-tube will also help us to administer her reflux medication.
In the meantime, homecare has given us a pump to use to feed Kiera.  The benefit of this is that we don`t need to have an IV pole or stand with our arms over our heads trying to gravity feed Kiera.  In addition, we can run the pump while going for a walk, in the car, doing errands.  We can also feed Kiera slowly so that she experiences fewer or less severe reflux symptoms.

Kiera is growing steadily and is interacting more and more with us.  She really enjoys her Jolly Jumper and Piper.  When Kiera is not gagging on her NG tube or saliva, having heartburn, or going through the vomiting motion (she can`t actually vomit or burp because her esophagus is closed), then she is smiling and giggling.  I wonder what her personality will be like when all her medical problems have been solved.

You guys are in my thoughts and prayers often. I hope that this is going to work this time and that it helps make life a little easier. God Bless.
