The last few days have been quite frustrating for Brenda. Feeding was not going well on Sunday and that same trend continued on Monday. On Monday afternoon Brenda put her foot down and pretty much demanded that Kiera be moved out of the NICU. She was finding that all the noise, distractions, and constant poking and prodding by the staff was not allowing Kiera to get enough rest and then of course she was too tired to try feeding from the bottle.
So, on Tuesday afternoon Kiera was moved out of the NICU into a regular care ward where she has a private room that has a bed for Brenda to sleep on. This allows Brenda to finally be Mom and hopefully this will allow Kiera to focus on learning how to eat from the bottle. Brenda tells me the room is quiet and she is relieved to be out of the NICU.
Unfortunately it now means Brenda won't be sleeping through the night, but she wouldn't be if she were at home either. It also means she no longer goes to a place with internet connection every night so it will be up to me to update the blog. She does have internet access in the library which is close to her room so I expect she will be checking up on Facebook and blog comments occasionally.
She does have a phone in her room and the ward is much more open to visitors so if people would like to see Brenda and Kiera get in touch with Keith at home and I can give you information on where she is or how to contact her.

Way to go and put your foot down Brenda. Us moms are our babies advocates and voices. Good for you to make yours heard.Hopefully now you'll be able to make some progress with the feeding. I'm sure it's very frustrating but hang in there. Good Luck!
Sounds like that was a good decision. I'm sure this last leg of this race is difficult, but every obstacle you all overcome is one less obstacle! HANG IN THERE ... it is tough I know, but soon soon soon your family will be together at home!
Hang in there, remember we can do all things through Christ who strenghtens us. I might have said that verse before but its a good one to remember. It got me through a tough time.
